ABOUT ME

Cheers! My name is Ned, and I am a 40 year-old highly independent quadriplegic. I work as a therapist, and I try to balance professionalism and fun in all of life's adventures. I think of myself as a fun and lighthearted individual who will “Try anything twice” and is a big believer in "You must be interested, to be interesting.” My interests are varied but I gravitate toward good food, great conversation, and being with the people that I love!
Living with a spinal cord injury, requires that I have around-the-clock staffing to support my medical needs alongside my assorted daily activities. NCG is the legal entity that I have established to assist in managing my staffing, recruitment, and payroll. This is a cooperatively working, diverse group of nurses, medical professionals, and varied supports. Our team is an incredibly adaptive one and allows me to live and enjoy the life that I have!
MEET CHARLIE
One of my more appealing qualities is my eight year-old miniature golden retriever Charlie, who is my constant companion and is spectacular in every way. We make a great team, and our general belief is that life’ is too short to be anything but fun!

This position does not require licensure but is ideal for anyone considering an advanced degree in medicine or the broader field of health care or anyone who is perceptive, outgoing, and has a spirit for adventure!
In working with me, your role is primarily a supportive one; I have a spinal cord injury and rely on around-the-clock care support to assist me with my medical needs, regular activities, and all other assorted tasks. With intention, this is a laid-back position that is welcoming, flexible, and intrinsically social!
The quality I find most important in all of my support members is an appreciation for direct and open communication. Every day, I seek interest and engagement; an integral part of this is having support with whom I am genuinely connected. By the end of any shift, I want to feel that our time has been meaningfully spent. You will find that this position provides a rewarding working relationship, which we can both benefit from and look forward to. I do my best to surround myself with individuals aligned with these values and shared beliefs. If this resounds with you, I’m looking for new support to add to my team, and I welcome your interest in applying!

On any single shift, my routine is just that, a routine; but the events and other commitments of that day or evening can be incredibly diverse! My morning typically begins with an espresso and the New York Times! Working as a therapist, I see clients throughout the day, and in between sessions, I will often head into town for groceries, incidentals, coffee with friends or to complete any other necessary errands.
My afternoons typically mark the end of my workday and revolve around finishing up my notes and other work-related responsibilities. Following this, if I haven’t already, we will begin dinner preparation which is generally followed by streaming some series that provides mutual interest to myself and my support as well. The evening shift is generally more social and interactive than any other, as there is a greater likelihood of going out for dinner and/or meeting with friends.
A Day in My Life:

I typically spend about four weeks per year traveling throughout the US and the world (cumulatively, not consecutively). Throughout this time, I will retain my night support with my support during the day typically working in extended shift covering the day and evening hours. All expenses are paid through this and the support for these trips will be afforded a rest period before the trip begins and after it ends.
Travel Opportunities:

I live in a fully secured condominium in downtown Burlington with on-site parking adjacent to the Burlington waterfront. There is a private study for those working for me to use throughout the day and night. This room is equipped with a smart TV, Internet access, and a fully integrated kitchen nearby. I typically engage and interact with my supports throughout any given shift but there is always a space designated for their belongings and comfort should they want it.

Graduate from a BA/BS accredited program. (Preferred not required).
-
Possession of a valid driver's license.
-
Up to date Covid Vaccination.
